Chautauqua Striders has saved over $140,000 by using Catchafire.org, a platform that connects nonprofit organizations with qualified, knowledgeable volunteers to help with tasks, train staff members on a variety of topics, and provide various other important services! We are thankful for the time and effort put in by the volunteers who helped with projects over the past year. Chautauqua Striders would also like to thank the Western New York Nonprofit Support Group for their sponsorship of our Catchafire membership that made this all possible!

Suzette, Carlye, Misty and other Chautauqua Striders staff have been visiting local schools for Open Houses the past few weeks – take a peek at some of our Lego challenges from these nights! We visited Washington Middle School, Persell Middle School, Maple Grove Central High School and Falconer Central Schools.
Check out the highlights from the 2022 Daniel Feather 5K race! We appreciate everyone who came out in remembrance of Daniel Feather, our co-founder and former JPD police officer.
Registration is open for our 2022 Youth Track & Field Development Program! It will be held on Mondays & Wednesdays from June 13 to July 13 from 6-8 pm at Strider Field. (Please note: the week of July 4th, sessions will be held on Tuesday & Wednesday July 5 & 6 from 7-9 pm). July 18 & 20 will be reserved for make-up session dates in the case of a weather cancellation.
Participants that register before June 7 are guaranteed a t-shirt. T-shirt availability will be limited after that. Late registration will be available at any practice or competition.
Cost: $75 per individual athlete; the fee is $60 per athlete in families registering more than one participant.
The purpose of the Youth Development Program is to encourage and promote participation and competition in the sport of track and field by providing a program for students ages 5-14. The program provides young athletes and their parents an introduction to the sport of track and field which is unique because it allows athletes to choose to sprint, hurdle, run, jump, vault, put, toss, or hurl. Some athletes might excel in one event while others enjoy the competition of many. Athletes will learn basic skills which can be applied to further athletic development.
(L-R) Director of Mentoring and Advocacy Erika Muecke, Fredonia Officer April Echevarria, Sergeant Rachael Waid Training Director, Mentoring Coordinator Elimelec Perez, Deputy Jacis Blake, Sheriff Jim Quattrone, Solimar Vazquez – Secretary to Chautauqua County Executive, James Rensel – UPMC Security Officer, and Nicole Gustafson Marketing & Resource Development Manager, United Way of Southern Chautauqua County.
Chautauqua Striders, Chautauqua County office of the County Executive, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, United Way and Jamestown High School collaborated on a Q&A Presentation about Law Enforcement Careers welcoming Sheriff James B. Quattrone and a diverse panel. This was a great opportunity for JHS students to ask about and get answers on law enforcement careers. The 46 students in attendance learned the benefits of attending local colleges and workforce development programs and the importance of staying and serving the local community.
Chautauqua Striders would like to thank the Chautauqua County Office of the County Executive, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Jamestown High School and the United Way of Southern Chautauqua County for their collaboration on this project. A recording of the event is available below.
Runners set off on the final run of the 5 race Winter 5K Series.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the Winter 5K Series. Over the course of two months and 5 races, 79 runners braved the bitter cold (and one particularly warm rescheduled race in March!) to run the 5K course in Celoron.
23 runners completed at least 4 of the 5 races, allowing them to place in the age-graded series standings:
1st: Adam Rowe
2nd: Greg Brink
3rd: Stephen Matteson
4th: Tim Gribbin
5th: Jeff Carlson
We would also like to thank our Series Sponsor Howard Hanna Holt, Chautauqua Harbor Hotel for allowing us to use their facilities at races, and the village of Celoron for hosting us. A final thank you must go to the team of volunteers who provided support on registrations and course marshaling throughout the 5 races.
If you missed the Winter 5K and are looking to run, be sure to join us for the Start of the Runner of the Year Series sponsored by UPMC Chautauqua, on Saturday, March 12, 2022 for the St. Patrick’s Dash in Jamestown. You can register at http://www.runsignup.com/stpatricksdash
