DESCRIPTION:This race is part of the 2024 Runner of the Year Series sponsored by Keybank. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe Laurel Memorial Run/Walk takes place the third weekend in July each year.  This two-day event offers several ways to participate: \n\n\n\nFriday\, July 19 – Jamestown-to-Dunkirk relay run (free\, but participants are encouraged to raise donations) \n\n\n\nSaturday\, July 20 (Silver Creek\, NY) – 8K Run\, 5K Run\, 5K Walk\, 1K Awareness Walk\, Children’s Runs \n\n\n\nDay One consists of a 31-mile relay run\, as well as “The Laurel-thon” for people who want to cover the entire relay route themselves. Day Two features an 8K Run\, 5K Run\, 5K Disability Awareness Walk\, 1K Awareness Walk\, and Children’s Runs in Silver Creek\, NY. We also offer paid and free virtual options for those unable to join us for the in-person events. Proceeds from the Laurel Memorial Run/Walk go to Filling the Gap\, Inc.\, to support services for people with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities at The Resource Center. This year\, The Resource Center is marking its 65th anniversary of supporting people with disabilities to enjoy awesome lives!

SUMMARY:Youth Track and Field Development Program
DESCRIPTION:This track and field program is designed for ages 5 to 14 years. By joining the program\, children can learn and develop basic athletic skills in June and July. Competitions are based on age and offer the participants and their parents a solid introduction to the sport. Young athletes have the option to choose the events in which they compete based on their individual interests and abilities. \n\n\n\nChautauqua Striders aims to encourage and promote participation and competition in the sport of track and field by providing a program for athletes of all ages. The Youth Track and Field Development Program serves as an introduction to the sport of track and field for young athletes and their parents. Track and field is unique because it allows young athletes to choose if they want to sprint\, hurdle\, run\, jump\, vault\, put\, toss\, or hurl. Some athletes might excel in one event while others enjoy the competition of many. Through participation\, athletes can learn basic athletic skills which can be applied to further athletic development. Youth Track and Field Development Program will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from July 9th – August 15th – 5:30 – 7:30 pm.

Our traditional 48th Annual Old First Night chip timed 2.75 mile run or walk takes participants around the perimeter of beautiful Chautauqua Institution. Those who aren’t on the grounds on race day can still be a part of the celebration by signing up for our virtual Around the World race. Race entry includes a keepsake OFN t-shirt commemorating Chautauqua Institution’s 150th Anniversary. \n\n\n\nOur 2024 OFN Race Day celebration offers kids more opportunities to get in on the fun! This year the Sports Club is hosting four kids fun runs: 1 Mile Run\, 100 Yard Dash\, 25 Yard Toddler Trot\, and 10 Yard Diaper Crawl. Race entry for each of these kids fun runs includes an “I AM CHQ’S FUTURE” hat. \n\n\n\nOnline race registration opens now and will close on Friday\, August 2nd at 5:30pm. Race morning registration is an additional $10 per person and available in person only at the Sports Club from 6:30 – 7:15am. Proceeds from the OFN and Kids Fun Runs benefit the Chautauqua Fund.

SUMMARY:Stephen's Run 6K Cross Country
DESCRIPTION:This race is part of the 2024 Runner of the Year Series sponsored by Keybank. \n\n\n\nHOSTED BY THE BEMUS POINT TRACK CLUB: \n\n\n\nStephen’s Run is a 6k cross country race in memory of Stephen Pangborn\, a Maple Grove cross country runner who passed away in 2000 at the age of 16 after a courageous battle with cancer. Proceeds go towards the Stephen Pangborn Memorial Scholarship Fund. \n\n\n\nThe race is held on the beautiful trails of Long Point State Park on Chautauqua Lake. Come enjoy a great trail race for a great cause! \n\n\n\nPart of the Chautauqua Striders 2024 Runner of the Year Series! \n\n\n\nShirts available for all runners registered before July 19. \n\n\n\nOverall and age group prizes will be awarded. \n\n\n\nLight post-run refreshments will be provided. \n\n\n\nPacket pick-up and day-of registration will open at 8:00AM. $30 cash\, check (made out to Bemus Point Track Club) and Venmo will be accepted. \n\n\n\nPlease note that there will be a $7 gate charge to enter the state park on the day of the race. If you park at the end of the Lakeside Drive\, you can walk\, run\, or bike down to the marina where the race will be starting.
