DESCRIPTION:Stephen’s Run is a 6k cross country race in memory of Stephen Pangborn\, a Maple Grove cross country runner who passed away in 2000 at the age of 16 after a courageous battle with cancer. Proceeds go towards the Stephen Pangborn Memorial Scholarship Fund. \n\n\n\nThe race is held on the beautiful trails of Long Point State Park on Chautauqua Lake. Come enjoy a great trail race for a great cause! \n\n\n\nPart of the Chautauqua Striders 2025 Runner of the Year Series! \n\n\n\nShirts available for all runners registered by July 20. \n\n\n\nOverall and age group prizes will be awarded. \n\n\n\nLight post-run refreshments will be provided. \n\n\n\nPacket pick-up and day-of registration will open at 8:00AM. $30 cash\, check (made out to Bemus Point Track Club) and Venmo will be accepted. \n\n\n\nPlease note that there will be a $7 gate charge to enter the state park on the day of the race. If you park at the end of the Lakeside Drive\, you can walk\, run\, or bike down to the marina where the race will be starting.

SUMMARY:Mathew Hazelton Memorial 5K
DESCRIPTION:*** THIS EVENT IS PART OF THE 2025 RUNNER OF THE YEAR SERIES SPONSORED BY KEYBANK AND UPMC CHAUTAUQUA *** \n\n\n\nPlease join us on Saturday June 7\, 2025 for the Matthew Hazelton Memorial 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk. Officer Hazelton was a 14 year member of the City of Dunkirk Police Department\, serving as the department’s K-9 Officer for the past two years of his career. Matt was also a loving father and devoted husband. Matt lost his long\, hard fought battle with ALS on August 6th 2017. Matt was one of the highest producing officers of the Dunkirk Police Department with both traffic tickets and arrests. He didn’t just write tickets and arrest people either. He talked to them\, helped them and did his best to find a solution to their problems. He was active on the Department’s Dive Team and Special Response Team. \n\n\n\nThe loss of Matt has left a void in the community and department that is unable to be filled. Matt’s drive and work ethic was like no other. When he arrived at work\, the switch was turned on and did not go off until he was on his way home. It is now our job to make sure that Matt’s name and legacy live on. The Dunkirk Police Benevolent Association will be hosting this 5K to fund a scholarship in Matt’s name that will be awarded to a student\, or students\, who are planning to continue their education in the criminal justice field. It is also our hope to raise awareness for ALS. On behalf of Matt’s fellow Officers of the City of Dunkirk Police Department\, thank you for your support of this year’s event.

The course includes portions of Temple St.\, Central Ave.\, Brigham Rd.\, and Ring Road on the SUNY Fredonia campus\, and is flat and fast\, with a short incline at the beginning. The course is USATF-certified as Course #NY17080JG. \n\n\n\nThe course is one of the featured races in the 2025 Runner of the Year Series presented by the Chautauqua Striders Athletic Club. \n\n\n\nRegistrants who sign up before April 15 will receive a T-shirt. Children learn and develop basic athletic skills during the months of June and July. Proceeds will also benefit Chautauqua Striders Track Club\, which gives athletes ages 13 to 18 years old an opportunity to participate in USA Track and Field events as well as Regional and National meets.

SUMMARY:St. Pat's Dash 3 Mile Run/Walk
DESCRIPTION:Run the Green 3 Mile course with Jamestown’s St. Pat’s Dash. The 3 Mile run/walk kicks off the 2025 Runner of the Year Series. \n\n\n\nThe race will start at 9:30 AM on March 15th\, 2025. \n\n\n\nDAY of registration and check in will be from 8:15 AM – 9:15 AM in the Northwest Arena lobby.  Day of registration will be $30.00 with limited shirt availability. Register by Friday\, February 28th to guarantee a t-shirt with the cost of registration. \n\n\n\nAWARDS will take place at 10:30 AM in The Arena Club\, which is located upstairs of the Northwest Arena. \n\n\n\nPOST-RACE EVENT: \n\n\n\nAfter the race\, join us for “Putts & Pints\,” a mini golf bar crawl fundraiser supporting Chautauqua Striders. Gather a team of four to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day weekend while helping local businesses and our organization. Participation costs $20 per person\, $80 per team. The winning team will receive a cash prize and a St. Patrick’s Day-themed award.
